Description

With this teaching material, we want to give secondary school students in Ireland an understanding of Europe. The big EU game is the introduction to the topic. Here, questions of knowledge about the EU and its individual countries are discussed. A sheet with the solution and further information is enclosed. The stimulus word puzzle is suitable for all language levels. The material on the history of the EU is a mixture of small group work and class group work. The material on "Europe for Children and Young People" combines an oral part of the task with a research task, which can be given as Homework. The task "Languages in Europe" can also be used as homework for all language levels, but must be followed up in class. The class project around the Euro also offers itself as homework
with a follow-up in the classroom. The listening and visual understanding "Europe and you – Election to the European Parliament" is suitable for the senior cycle (grades 10-12). The research task can be given as homework. The material on the European Youth Parliament is suitable for the Senior Cycle. Here, a reading text, a research task and a class project (contact with an Irish member of the Youth Parliament) are combined. Listening comprehension "Europe and you- Europe in Everyday Life" brings students of the Senior Cycle closer to the importance of the EU for everyday life.
