Sambatas Stagings
SAMBATAS STAGINGS is a collaborative performative project that draws on the history, imagery and context of urban ruin to reinvent the uses of public space in the turbulence of the pandemic. Diana McCarty, Oleksiy Radynski, David Munoz Alcantara and Mijke van der Drift, in conjunction with artists, musicians and intellectuals in Kyiv, will activate the previously abandoned Petrivska Street in the city’s center with a series of collective readings, rituals, performances and writing sessions. The resulting script, visual and audio documentation of the stagings in Kiev will be the basis for the live sonic science fiction transmission staged in Berlin and a short film documenting the entire process.
SAMBATAS STAGINGS is organized by the Visual Culture Research Center (VCRC, Kyiv) in cooperation with the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin) and elsehere e.V. (Berlin) and will take place between March 2021 and April 2022.
Project Authors: David Munoz Alcantara, Mijke van der Drift, Diana McCarty, Oleksiy Radynski
