Der Stamm
Machol Shalem Dance House / Shlomi Bitton (Israel) and Stadttheater Freiburg / Graham Smith (Germany)
In a combination of dance and storytelling, choreographers Graham Smith (Freiburg) and Shlomi Bitton (Jerusalem) bring together two post-war generations in the 50-plus age group from Freiburg and Jerusalem who share - and are divided by - one thing: their stories. On the stage of “Schlachten” - the Shakespearian royal dramas about battles for power and territories - they question the relationship between national identity and personal biography, research commonalities and differences, and search for a movement that makes an encounter possible.
