In the summer, the train from Skagway, Alaska stops at the Carcross train station. Several buses take cruise passengers and tourists to the small village of the First Nations communities: Tagish and Tlingit. There, Heike's apple pie, based on her mother’s recipe, does not only attract German tourists.

Here you will find boutiques, galleries, restaurants and cafés that are carefully decorated with traditional carvings.

When Heike Graf, as a single mother, opened her café in 2012, she fulfilled a lifelong dream. In Carcross, a small village of 300 souls, situated on a large sandy beach and surrounded by mountains, no café existed where she and her child could meet their friends for a cappuccino and a piece of cake. When the architect of the Carcross Commons, Antonio Zedda asked her if she could imagine opening a café in the Commons in 2010, Heike was thrilled.

Just like Carcross, it is a small place that attracts many tourists. As before, she is surrounded by children, this time accompanying their mothers to the café. Many mothers are now visiting her café with their children to enjoy Heike's specialties on the terrace. The espresso comes from Bean North, a Yukon coffee roaster, and the pastries are homemade or delivered by a Swiss baker who lives nearby during the busy summer months. To Heike children stay very important and are always welcome in her small friendly café.
