About Focus: Refugees
Flight and migration
No other subject has been as controversially discussed nor polarized as much. So far the discussions have been about refugees as a homogenous group though, and their situation has been generalized.
With our dossier on the subject, we are trying to add a micro-perspective. How do refugees contribute to the society of their arrival country? What are the reciprocal influences? How can the arrival be shaped differently?
Our contributions research why cohabitation seems to work better in urban areas than in the countryside. It takes a look at the presentation of the subjects of flight and migration in independent German cinema and new approaches in the libraries. We inform about intercultural culinary exchange and strategies of self-organization of those who had to flee their countries.
