Chua Beng Huat is concurrently, Professor of Urban Studies, Yale-NUS College and Professor of Sociology, National University of Singapore (NUS). He has previously served as the Leader, Cultural Studies in Asia Research Cluster, Asia Research Institute, NUS. His research interests include comparative political economy of Southeast Asia, comparative urban and housing policies and cultural studies in Asia and has published extensively in all these fields. His most recent book is Liberalism Disavowed: Communitarianism and State Capitalism in Singapore (2017, NUS Press and Cornell University Press). He is founding co-executive editor of the journal, Inter-Asia Cultural Studies.
