The results of the national survey by Indonesian Political Indicators from 7 June 2020 show that satisfaction with democracy during the pandemic has decreased compared to previous findings. The economic conditions and the government’s ability to handle the COVID-19 outbreak are thought to be related to low satisfaction with democracy in the early days of the pandemic.
Efforts to bolster democracy and to remain firm against anti-democratic efforts by utilizing digital technology need to be discussed together. Solutions must be implemented to curb the shrinking of civil society space. What role can academics and civil society groups play?
