Nirali Lal works in Baroda. She completed her graduation in painting from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore and went on to pursue a Masters degree in Art Criticism from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.U. Baroda. She is primarily a painter and also shows an enthusiasm for exploring new ideas and mediums. Her visual language emerges from an interest in spontaneously picking up instances around her and mingling them in actual or metaphorical stances into a surreal spirited ‘performance’ through painting. Previously, she was an Art Representative in Bangalore City for SaffronArt.com. She has also written reviews for various publications.

Nirali Lal’s project ♬ Cock-a-doodle-doo ♬ incites a break or an interruption from an inadvertent state to a bright awakening. The project explores her entertaining relationship with her pet rooster ‘Mookoo’… her muse. He comes in the way supposedly as an interruption, but is metamorphosed into an inspiration. The project discusses her daily duties and activities which involve her pet rooster, who does his own thing at his own time, and time and again… distracting her while also giving an impetus to her pursuits. A perpetual activity of ‘new’ incidents, which are ironically repeated each time. These experiences introduce unique social plots, opening up various spheres of interactions both virtual and actual with other pet lovers - specifically rooster people, incidents of knowledge, emotions, spiritual insights and importantly elucidating a somewhat sublime relationship between two souls. She explores these dimensions through paint, excerpts, writings and videos.
