The symposium 'Scholars, Texts, Ideas: The Networks of Intellectual Traffic Between India and Germany,' commemorates two centuries of interactions between India and Germany that has shaped and enriched the intellectual landscape of both nations. It takes its cue from the recent podcast series created by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of the German Indologist Friedrich Max Müller, which revealed fascinating networks of texts, scholars, and ideas crisscrossing India and Germany. The symposium seeks to further explore these knowledge networks and their impact on the intellectual history of both India and Germany over the past two hundred years.
Through lectures and panel discussions from esteemed scholars and experts, the symposium seeks to celebrate the shared intellectual history of Germany and India and reinforce the enduring bond between the two countries in the realms of scholarship and cultural exchange.
