100 Years of Kafka

In this interactive storytelling workshop titled "Kafka on Twine," participants will explore game design using Twine, an open-source tool for creating interactive, nonlinear stories. The workshop focuses on developing an interactive Kafka-themed game using Twine. Participants will learn how to transform Kafka's narrative into electronic literature through hands-on game design activities.

Target Audience

We invite artists, graphic designers, illustrators, readers, Kafka and gaming enthusiasts, creatives, and educators from literature and the visual arts who are curious about gaming tools, storytelling, and transforming narratives into electronic literature.

Agenda

  • Introduction to Twine and interactive storytelling (overview of Twine features and capabilities)
  • Selection of a Kafka short story for game adaptation
  • Hands-on workshop: Participants develop their own interactive Kafka game using Twine
  • Guidance and support from facilitators throughout the workshop
  • Presentation and sharing of participants' interactive games

Materials and Resources

  • Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops/devices for hands-on activities.

Publication

  • Interactive games produced during the workshop will be showcased and published on the Goethe-Institut website.
  • Participants retain copyright ownership of the images created during the workshop.

Workshop Facilitator

Anurati Srivastva © Anurati Srivastva Anurati Srivastva is a learning game designer, researcher, and new media artist. She is the founder of PEDAL (Playful Experience Design and Learning) Studio, leading the design and development of digital games and learning experiences. Her clients include UNICEF OOI, Miko.AI, Columbia University, World Health Organisation, and Search for Common Ground. Previously, she led the Games for Learning Team at UNESCO MGIEP, designing and researching the impact of social-emotional learning skills using digital games. Under her artistic practice, she develops narrative games on themes of gender, culture, and absurdism. She is an Arts for Good Fellow 2021, a Visiting Faculty at the National Institute of Design 2022, and a Young India Fellow 2017.
