Harish Meenashru

Harish Meenashru born in 1953 is a Gujarati writer and translator who enjoyed a long career in the banking sector. He was born in Anand and studied Chemistry at the Sardar Patel University, Vallab Vidyanagar. Best known as a postmodern poet, he has written ten books on poetry, among them are Dhribaangsundar Eni Pere Dolya, Suno Bhai Sadho, PadPraanjali and Shabadmaan Jinku Khaas Khabaraan Padi, Pankhi-Padaarath. His poems have been translated in Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam and Kannada. He has received many awards for his literary work, the most recent of them being the Vali Gujarati Award and the Narasinh Mehta Award. He lives in Bakrol-Vallabh Vidyanagar.
He was instrumental in organizing and sponsoring a special Literary Event: ‘Pratipadaa’ poetry festival of post-modern Gujarati Poetry, at Anand on September 20 and 21, 2014, where 17 post-modern poets recited their poems and renowned critics presented critical reflections on their poetry. This will be documented in a book very shortly.
