Call for Submissions

The Goethe-Institut Jordan is seeking a qualified medical professional, healthcare worker, or expert in the field of physical disabilities to collaborate on a unique children's book project. The project aims to explain five different physical disabilities in a way that is accessible and engaging for children between the ages of 5 and 10.

Project Overview:

The book will feature five to six stories created in collaboration with authors and illustrators from Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Morocco, and Egypt. These stories will focus on children with physical disabilities, including but not limited to children who use wheelchairs or face challenges in movement. We are looking for a professional who can explain these conditions in simple, child-friendly language that helps young readers understand the challenges these children face while emphasizing empathy, inclusion, and diversity.

Scope of Services:

- Provide clear, easy-to-understand explanations for five different physical disabilities, tailored to a young audience. Approximately 100 pages (five-six stories) in a children’s book.
- Review 5-6 stories, including both the written text and illustrations, s to ensure medical accuracy while maintaining a child-friendly tone.
- Advise on and review the illustrations of disabilities that will accompany the text on disabilities written by you.
Requirements:
- Experience in working with children, particularly in explaining medical conditions or disabilities in a sensitive and accessible manner.
- Expertise in physical disabilities, either as a medical professional (e.g., pediatrician, physical therapist, or specialist in disabilities) or through relevant work with children in healthcare or education.
- Ability to communicate complex information in a simple and engaging way.
- Native Arabic speaker or demonstrable proficiency in the Arabic language.

The offer must be in writing, in English, dated, and signed. No draft offers will be accepted.
Fees should be listed in EUR or JOD without VAT. VAT should be indicated separately.
