The purpose of this guideline is to present CLIL projects in which the Goethe-Institut could be involved as well as those projects that the Goethe-Institut is already working on across departments. It aims at the differentiation of subject learning in relation to German as a foreign language and also to other foreign languages in a variety of contexts. Themes included are interculturality, study preparation and study support, exchange projects, competitions for children and teenagers, cultural exhibitions, further education programs portraying subject-specific input.
When it comes to both foreign language teaching and the integrated teaching of subject content, certain methodological-didactic approaches have proven successful, which will also be briefly discussed.
CLIL in Germany is different from projects abroad, so the introductory chapters briefly describe which special features might be relevant for the work of the Goethe-Institut.
This compilation shows only a part of the rapidly growing and changing educational CLIL/STEM landscape and is intended to contribute to an overview of currently available standards. It also aims to better network and synergize in the conception and design of new projects and measures.
To stay up-to-date though, consult the Goethe-Institut online.
