Mercy College
Mercy College are part of Team 4 and have been partnered with Albrecht-Weinberg Gymnasium in Rhauderfehn, Germany. Over the course of the next year, we are looking forward to working together to promote sustainable lifestyles in school and form habits to bring home and adapt into our everyday lives.
Our plans for promoting sustainability in Mercy College include a rewilding area with uncut grass and wild flowers for pollination. This is a recommended and simple way to conserve the environment whilst restoring and improving biodiversity. We will be sourcing a poly tunnel to grow herbs in and the produce will then be used in our Home Economics classes. We are also arranging a beach clean-up in Dunmoran Strand. We will be testing the quality of the water in local lakes and streams. This will allow us to look into how we can preserve the wildlife living there. We hope to compare the water quality in Ireland with the water quality in Germany.
