Sumathi Ramaswamy

Sumathi Ramaswamy ist James B. Duke-Professorin für Geschichte und Internationale Komparatistik an der Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA und Präsidentin des American Institute of Indian Studies. Sie veröffentlichte zahlreiche Publikationen zu Sprachpolitik, Genderforschung, Spatial Studies sowie über die Geschichte der Kartografie, Visual Studies, die moderne Geschichte der Kunst und seit Kurzem zu Digital Humanities und der Geschichte der Philanthropie. Zu ihren Werken zählen The Goddess and the Nation: Mapping Mother India und Husain’s Raj: Visions of Empire and Nation; außerdem die Sammelbände Barefoot Across the Nation: Maqbool Fida Husain and the Idea of India und Empires of Vision (als Mitherausgeberin). Sie ist Mitbegründerin von Tasveerghar: A Digital Network of South Asian Popular Visual Culture (www.tasveerghar.net).
