Ulrike Almut Sandig

(born 15 May 1979 in Großenhain, Germany); author

Ulrike Almut Sandig studied Religion and Indology after which she enrolled at the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig. She has co-published the literary journal EDIT. Zunder (Tinder), a collection of poems appeared in 2005, and Flamingos, her first collection of short stories, in 2010. This was followed by the publication of her first novel, Monster wie wir (Monsters Like Us), in 2020. Sandig has received several grants to support her literary work and has been writer-in-residence in Sydney and Helsinki. She has been awarded the Wilhelm Lehmann Prize, the Roswitha Prize for literature and the Erich Loest Prize. Ulrike Almut Sandig lives in Berlin.
