"Magnetic Fields presents Fieldlines" is an immersive residency program, that will take place before and during the seventh edition of Magnetic Fields Festival 2019 in Alsisar, Rajasthan.
International and contemporary musicians and sound artists will live and work together with traditional musicians from the region. Together with a filmmaker and cultural translator, content will be developed to bring traditional music forms closer to local and international audiences, to revive and conserve traditional instruments and playing styles, and to open up new avenues.
In addition to artistic exchange, it is the social interaction in Rajasthan, the shared experience of food, architecture, nature and local traditions, which will be felt in the live presentation on stage for festival guests. During the festival, the project studio will be transformed into a live installation that offers the possibility of interaction and in which improvised jams and performances will take place. Furthermore, a concert is planned in the local village.
This project is part of round 7 of the International Coproduction Fund, year 2019.
