Three activists with different goals and from different countries are at the centre of this documentary by Franz Böhm. They are young and inspired by the desire to secure the future of their homeland and make it more liveable. To do so, they sometimes take considerable personal risks.

The 23-year-old Rayen is part of the Chilean protest movement in Santiago and fights for social and democratic justice there. At the forefront of her protest are the ever-growing disparities between rich and poor that divide society in Chile. The police only respond to these protests with violence. Pepper, 25, is campaigning in Hong Kong against China’s erosion of democratic rights. Afraid of ending up in prison or having to leave the country like many of her fellow activists, she hides her identity and has to lead a double life. Hilda Flavia Nakabuye is the Ugandan founder of the "Fridays for Future" movement. The consequences of climate change in Uganda have shaped her life from an early age. Through her active engagement, she was invited to the climate conference in Copenhagen.

In this documentary, Franz Böhm accompanies three strong women who try to assert their community values and ideas in a fragile, unreliable world. Dear Future Children expresses the desire of a lost generation for a better future.
