In collaboration with Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India, Goethe-Institut Myanmar hosted a “Dance Movement Therapy” workshop as part of Program of Care 2.0.
The aim of the workshop was to improve well-being based on the benefits of gentle physical activity through dance. The workshop encouraged nonverbal creative expression and awareness of the body while improving coordination and movement resulting in tension release, as dancing is a pleasurable and relaxing activity. The “Dance Movement Therapy” workshop was not about working towards a public dance performance hence no prior dance training was required.
Miss Lalan Desai, a dance performer and teacher from the Embassy of India, Yangon, led the workshop. Anyone between 16 and 40 was welcome to join the free workshop and participants were divided into 2 groups.
