Marie Himmerich is an art historian and assistant curator at Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden (DE). Before, she has been a lecturer on the history and theory of art at University of Dresden (2013-16) and worked as assistant curator for the exhibition series „Secret Universe“ at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin (2011-13). Parallel to her curatorial work she is pursuing a PhD on the interrelationsship of art and information after 1989 and writes as an art critic (last for Camera Austria).
Current research and curatorial projects deal with strategies of contemporary art and their relationship with digital media culture, the aesthetics of form and display as well as queer theory. Currently, she is preparing an exhibition project with Ad Minoliti.
Recent curatorial projects at Kunsthalle Baden-Baden include „45cbm: State of Stage – Jennifer Mattes“ (2017), „Telling Textiles“ (2017, together with Imke Kannegießer) and „Exhibiting the Exhibition. From the Cabinet of Curiosities to the Curatorial Situation“.
