The first event of our project series titled "Program of Care" was an "Art and Healing Orientation Session". This session was presented by Dr. Aung Min (Mental Health Instructor, Practitioner, Art Therapist, Script Mentor, and Filmmaker) and Dr. San San Oo (Psychiatrist, EMDR Psychotherapist, and Artist) from the Aung Clinic.
The orientation event served as an engaging platform to discuss various topics, including the concept of art therapy, utilizing art therapy basics to alleviate mental stress, healing from traumatic experiences, and exploring empathetic approaches to finding solutions for ourselves, our families, and our loved ones within our society and diverse communities. Furthermore, the question, of whether art therapy is effective and accessible to everyone, was addressed.
Moreover, we introduced the upcoming "Art & Healing Certificate Workshops" during this event, which will be held throughout the months of May and June. These workshops provide participants with valuable insights and practical techniques in expressive therapy. As a highlight, the event concluded with an exhibition showcasing expressive therapy artworks created by Aung Mental Health Initiative.
