Description

This time the magazine provides next to an editorial contents from the subjects Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Technology. Theoretical contents and tasks are complementet by experiments. The introducing editorial shows the usefulness of fire but also the dangers coming from fire. That way the learners get sensitized  on how to handle fire and how to experiment with it right in the beginning. A look into the past also shows, how people had kindled fire before. The learners will acquire that knowledge by researching in the internet using a QR code provided in this issue. The subject chemistry  then takes a closer look on the origin of fire. The combustion triangle is introduced and the students learn how to securely put out a fire. They can try it out during the following experiment. The physics content includes solid, liquid and gaseous substances, that are flammable. The learners experiment by making soot visible. The geography-part is about forestfires and their emergence. To sensitize learners for a responsible handling of fire, they establish rules for handling fire in forests themselves. They can also make fire with a magnifying glass in the context of another experiment. Afterwards the learners deal with volcanoes. The tech-part explains the responsibilities of firefighters and addresses the konkrete behaviour during a fire alarm. The magazine also explains the connection between fire and mobility. In the end there is a short quiz to review the previously learned contents.
